My Film Opening Project - Genre & Production Name

What will it be?

Today is the day we're making final decisions. Although we can change our minds later on, I've never been in the mood to waste time on a project I hate. After deliberating for the better half of the school year, I have decided who I am working with, the genre that is being produced, the production name, and the logo. While these choices may seem minuscule compared to the amount of work I will have to make, they build a strong foundation for the months to come.

Enough dillydally, for whom I am working, I have opted to work by myself. While I love my friends and am sure they'd make amazing partners, we all enjoy different movies. This means our movie styles would be so different. This past week, when discussing the film, we all chose different genres. This highlights just how different we want to be with this film.

The next choice I made was genre. Originally, I was heavily inspired by Mama Mia! and LaLaLand. Musicals are one of my favorite genres, and I thought I would love to do a film opener of it. However, upon further decision, that isn't the genre for me. I looked at stop motion, but I felt uninspired and couldn't think of any plot. When thinking of my favorite movies, I realized all of them are cute romance films with weird main characters. So I landed on doing a romantic comedy. Which shocks no one, as I am a teenage girl who is known for loving a good (and bad) rom-com.

The next two decisions go hand in hand. I made a production company and created its logo. These choices were difficult in another way. I wanted to represent myself through the production. This caused me to reflect on what images and words would represent me. For the production name, I wanted to do a play on my name, similar to this blog. I couldn't think of a pun for Ash, so as an avid enjoyer of alliteration, I went with the second-best option. Fire Films is my production. This led to the creation of a fire logo. I was born with an upside-down heart birthmark on my stomach. I've always thought it was so cute and wanted to utilize this design in my logo. I also wanted a simple design. I find that logos that are easy to replicate are the ones I remember the most. My production and logo represent me through name,  imagery, and humor. I can't wait to make this film opener project mine.
