Moodboard

For this assignment, we were tasked to create several moodboard to help get our creative juices flowing for this film. We had to incorporate our character portraits, location photos, wardrobe, props, visual effects, framing & composition, lighting, color palette, and other film stills.

Character Portraits

For this board, I found character portraits similar looking to me and my friends, and enhanced the vibe the character would be going for. For one of my characters I used a photo of my friend Izzy as her character is similar to herself and is encaptured in the photo taken.

Locations, Color Palette, Visual Effects, & Lighting

For this board, I encompassed four elements into one place. The location, visual effects, color palette, and lighting all tie in together nicely, contributing to the overall mise-en-scene of the film.

Wardrobe & Props

This board helps set the ideas of what the characters will be interacting with. I want this choice to be heavily aesthetic based, as the basis for any romantic comedy is how the visuals work to enhance the experience for the viewer. I picked multiple wardrobe options to be able to work with the limited options I may have as a student. The props are connected to both the storyline and the characters. The journal, indicates how secrets can intrigue but also limit vulnerability, while the flowers are beautiful but short-lived.

Framing & Composition

This board shows off some shots that will be recreated in my film openning, to create a distinct, playful, surreal style.

Film Stills

For the final board, I used stills from some of my favorite movies that I feel will give a similar effect to my film openning. This allows for me to have a reference to my inspiration as I start to create my openning.
