Editting

Now that I went through and gathered all the clips I had to piece them together, layer the voice overs and music, and add text.

I imported all the videos into one layer, muted the sound. I then clipped the videos into which parts I needed and had them jump together through them, besides the ending clip. I wanted that one to be a fade out with a scene of my movie title along with the definition of the word to hint to the future events. Overall, piecing together the videos was easy.

The sound aspect was difficult. I tried to layer audio of me and Izzy having the same conversation we had in the film but it was awkward to get the timing to match with the mouths and overall not worth it. So I scrapped that conversation entirely, allowing there to be more clips of the scenario and handheld camera. I instead used an audio recording that was "Izzy" reminising on this moment she met "Sara." This helped create the nostaligic mood that is pivotal to romantic comedies while still conveying the conversation I wanted our characters to have to indicate how the rest of the film will go. I still used the scene where "Sara" says "both?" to jump to a moment where the movie is less like family footage and more professional. Then I fading to the song I had choosen for the film opening which once again fades out when the movie title comed on screen. I also had the audio from the videos play faintly along with a looped sound track of me laughing. This was to once again convey a personal and nostalgic tone throughout the movie that is meant to comfort the audience.

Finally, I had to choose the text. I used Premeire by Adobe to edit and they had plenty of fonts available for me to use, so I choose the one I felt the prettiest and used the color yellow because I felt it was cute and playful to appeal to the audience's aesthetics. I wanted the credit to appear as the clips go through the scenes and film by the time that clip ends. This kept the names brief, but took plenty of space to make it easier for the audience to read.
